The Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies is designed to incorporate your previous college work. Students entering the program must have at least 90 quarter units (60 semester hours) and have completed all lower division general education requirements. Our staff will work with you to determine if you have the required credits prior to admission to the program.

ADP students will complete between 60 and 90 quarter units. Between units transferred and units completed in the ADP, students must earn a total of 180 units.

The university has two specific requirements for degree completion:

  1. A course in United States Cultural Pluralism (USCP)
  2. The Graduation Writing Requirement (GWR).
    (See the USCP and GWR information listed below.)

The 90 unit Interdisciplinary Studies curriculum includes:

  • 26 units in Interdisciplinary Studies Courses
  • 12 units in Upper Division General Education Courses
  • 52 units in Interdisciplinary Studies Major Courses

To earn the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies students must satisfy and/or complete the following:

1) Pass the Writing Proficiency Examination

2) Pass an approved upper-division course selected by the Faculty Program Committee with a grade of C or better AND receive certification of proficiency in writing based on a 500-word, in-class essay.

United States Cultural Pluralism (USCP)

Met through course selected by the Faculty Program Committee and included in the major.

Lower Division General Education Requirements

Met through transfer/CSU GE Certification.
